Location: San Antonio, TX Schedule: Monday - Friday with potential overtime as required Compensation: Depending On Experience Experience: Proven experience in warehouse operations, material handling, or heavy lifting Background Check: Must be able to pass a comprehensive criminal background check. Drug Testing: Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening. Reliability: Dependable transportation and the flexibility to work scheduled shifts and adapt to warehouse volume demands.
The Warehouse Heavy Lifter is responsible for performing strenuous physical tasks, including loading, unloading, sorting, and moving heavy merchandise, freight, and materials within a fast-paced distribution or warehouse environment. This position ensures accurate inventory handling while maintaining a safe, organized, and compliant workspace.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Safely load and unload heavy freight, pallets, and merchandise from trucks, containers, and staging areas.
- Manually lift, carry, push, and pull heavy boxes, crates, and bulk materials according to safety guidelines.
- Sort, organize, and stock inventory in designated warehouse storage locations.
- Inspect materials and products for damages or discrepancies during handling.
- Operate manual pallet jacks, hand trucks, and material handling equipment safely.
- Follow all warehouse safety policies, procedures, and OSHA regulations at all times.
- Coordinate workflow and communicate effectively with shift supervisors, inventory clerks, and warehouse team members.
- Maintain a clean, hazard-free, and organized work area throughout daily operations.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum 1–2 years of warehouse, logistics, or heavy material handling experience.
- Proven physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy loads repeatedly throughout a full shift.
- Strong understanding of warehouse safety procedures and proper lifting techniques.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience operating motorized material handling equipment (e.g., forklift, electric pallet jack).
- Prior experience in high-volume distribution centers, freight forwarding, or fulfillment hubs.
- Certification or formal training in warehouse safety or equipment operation.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift heavy loads (up to 50 lbs or more) continuously throughout the shift.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, twist, and reach for extended periods.
- Ability to work in a dynamic warehouse environment with varying temperature conditions.
